Audience Member Delia, una illustratrice napoletana trapiantata da lunghi anni a Bologna, viene richiamata a Napoli dalla morte improvvisa della madre, suicidatasi per annegamento. La donna non presta credito alla tesi ufficiale del suicidio, convinta che la esuberanza, la vivacità e la positività esistenziale che della madre ricorda assai bene, mai l'avrebbero spinta ad un gesto così definitivo e categorico. Inizia pertanto ad indagare il passato recente della donna, sospinta anche da alcune inquietanti telefonate che riceve da un interlocutore sconosciuto. I fatti e la ricostruzione frammentaria degli ultimi giorni di vita della madre portano improvvisamente alla luce avvenimenti remoti che Dalia aveva occultato e sepolto nella propria memoria e la costringono a riconsiderare una realtà personale diversa da quanto aveva inconsciamente costruito. Delia deve ricordare e rivivere il momento in cui, condizionata dall'atteggiamento paterno violento ed opprimente, rompe i rapporti con la madre, accusata dal coniuge di una relazione clandestina con un individuo misterioso. Ma Delia non è pronta a scoprire la verità su sua madre e quindi su stessa e proprio nel momento in cui il mistero intorno agli ultimi giorni che precedono lo strano suicidio sta per sciogliersi, ella decide di far ritorno a Bologna, allontanandosi per sempre da un passato doloroso e dalla verità che esso nasconde. En medio de la película nace un nuevo misterio, esta vez sobre Delia. La película termina sin poder acercarnos más a Delia desde una visión psicológica. Not an easy watch, and ultimately, this restrained and downbeat work throws up more questions about the nature of truthfulness than it answers. Intelligent and challenging.
