spencer p While it does provide some interesting topics and a funny scripted beginning, this is mainly a sick exploitative doc on the worst of French trends in 1968. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A weird outlier in the filmography of Pierre Etaix, The Land of Milk and Honey purports itself to be a documentary about the vacation habits of France's middle class. What it really does is point a snarky lens at overcrowded camping grounds, amateurish singing competitions, and the banal opinions of the average people interviewed throughout the movie's running time. This film is certainly funny in spots and one can easily find instances of the adroit editing and comic sensibility that colors Etaix' earlier work, but I'd only recommend The Land of Milk and Honey to folks who are already fond of Etaix efforts such as Yo Yo or Le Grand Amour.
