Some of the desert scenery is gorgeous, as were the cute wolf cubs, but it's the human interactions that were way too savage. When the snow comes and the army retreats, Lu finds himself in a Harran village where he falls for a beautiful woman â" but their love is threatened by a curse that foretells if they mate then theyâ(TM)ll become wolves forever more. A historical epic with a difference, this is less endless battle scenes, more metaphysical love story. It certainly looks good, aside a dodgy CGI storm, but the narrative does rather drag towards the end.
