Audience Member Of historical interest: The implementation of Facist society by Franco's government after the Civil War. Interesting portrayal of the behaviour of the church and ordinary citizens towards the republican fugitives. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member More than for its cinematographical values (although sometimes the good chemistry among the actresses and the drama of the real event increase them), it is important for not forgetting the story of these 13 women which were killed by their ideas, circumstances, or just because they were in the wrong place. So, good historical document about the duty of not forgetting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Intense and sad film that was well acted throughout. Beautiful lives cut short for no reason - leaves you with much to reflect on in this imperfect world... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member 13 young women, mostly minor, were sent to a firing squad against the wall of East cemetery for a political crime they were not involved. The film was nicely paced, introducing the individual character which was a bit overwhelming for me at first. The fine acting by the entire cast was brilliant. Especially Pilar López de Ayala who played Blanca, a beautiful good Catholic mother. The ending scene of her last letter to her son was so touching. However, I felt the prison life could have done better to show the inhumanity. But then again, its pretty hard to show everything all in 100 mins. p.s. be warned. lots of sobbing and tissues required. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty good, all in all, a little melodramatic, could've toned down the music score a little. But really, relatively speaking, looking at other Civil War movies (Spanish or otherwise), much better than, say, the lame girl power stuff in Libertarias.
