Synopsis
This documentary examines a thousand years of Jewish life in Poland, from its declaration of statehood in 966 onward. Jews attain important positions in Polish life, even fighting in the army for the country's independence, but often find themselves discriminated against or murdered in pogroms. Anti-Semitism comes to a crest in 1943, when Jews in the Warsaw ghetto defend themselves against the Nazis while the world at large refuses to help or condemn Hitler's actions.
