Audience Member There are some unforgettable moments in this film (an explosive freeway accident and a biker gang driving off a cliff being among the most famous), but they can't make up for a lousy script that forgoes plot and character in favor of spectacle and ham-handed moralizing Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member It's like the guy who invented Murphy's Law (...so probably Murphy) dropped acid, hopped a plane to Japan and, during the 18 hour flight, read a cheap paperback of Nostradamus' prophecies... and then sold his vision of "everything that can go wrong sure as hell will cause Nostradamus said so" to Toho. Yet this hallucinogenic collection of apocalyptic vignettes is strangely moving. Really weird and sad all at the same damn time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie needs to be seen in the original Japanese cut which has about 1 hour more of footage. That version is a masterpiece of the disaster genre and one of my favorite films. Sadly that version of the film has never been released on any DVD or VHS etc. So you have to see it in bootleg form.
