Ian K Interesting Russian film, dubbed and re-produced in English. Some near-future light sci-fi overlaid on a disaster film (meteorites hit Vladivostok or somewhere) with a double dose of family drama. The heroine has serious daddy issues, and the younger "hero" couldn't look more French if he tried. Hilariously they all sing patriotic songs on the beach at the end. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/11/25 Full Review Richard C A strong opening scene and above-average special effects, combined with some weaker moments and genre tropes, make a watchable and generally enjoyable film. The English voiceover is ... sometimes a bit weak. I don't know how that relates to the original Russian performances. Is it award-winning? Will you remember it for years? Probably not. However, it is what it is - and you'll not regret the 1.5 hours you spend with these characters provided that you like sci-fi disaster flicks. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/22/25 Full Review Jimmy G "Last Signal" delivers a visually stunning experience, particularly during its intense destruction sequences. The cinematography is truly remarkable, especially when following Lera's frantic runs through the collapsing city. The camera work captures the sheer scale of the disaster with breathtaking clarity, immersing the viewer in the chaos. The scenes of buildings crumbling and the meteor shower's impact are rendered with impressive detail, creating a palpable sense of urgency and dread. However, while the film excels in its visual presentation, the overall plot feels disappointingly generic. It treads familiar ground within the disaster movie genre, offering little in the way of originality. The character development is also somewhat lacking, making it difficult to fully invest in Lera's emotional journey. Here's a reflection of some of the general viewer opinions: * "The special effects are top-notch, and the camera work is excellent. But the story itself is very similar to many other disaster movies." * "Visually, this film is a spectacle. But don't expect a deeply engaging storyline." * "The film is strong with its visual effects, but weak with the story line." In conclusion, "Last Signal" is a film that prioritizes visual spectacle over narrative depth. If you're looking for a visually impressive disaster movie, you might find something to enjoy here. However, those seeking a compelling and original storyline may be left wanting more. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/22/25 Full Review Read all reviews
