Joshua Katzman Chicago Reader 09/19/2008
This engaging, mostly improvised no-budget feature is based in part on Mandt's experiences, its loose narrative structure developing by chance as the duo encounter an assortment of characters on the road. Go to Full Review

Well shot and edited despite its meager budget, Last Stop for Paul -- said to be based on a true story -- is good-natured, lightweight fun, although clichd and more suited to DVD and cable than the big screen. Go to Full Review
John Anderson Variety 03/07/2008
Simply an ingenious way of constructing a good film out of virtually nothing. Go to Full Review

Terrifically shot, and brimming with equal parts snarky heart and the most well-duh insights since your college senior thesis. Go to Full Review

Whatever comic misadventures he set out to commit to film on his shoestring budget, [director] Mandt proves again and again in Last Stop for Paul that he was ready when the time came. Go to Full Review

Many of these are locals whom we see Mandt trying to teach to act in outtakes over the end credits, which are by far the best and funniest things in the movie. Go to Full Review

09/18/2014 Lighthearted semi-fictitious travel doco about 2 Americans' cultural adventures adventures travelling through the East. The experience in Tokyo where the one guy's bicycle is stolen and he reports it to the police is particularly funny. See more 05/25/2013 One of the funniest movies I have ever seen. See more 05/18/2013 Travelling around the world with these two work buddies is a memorable experience. Poignant and funny at times, it's not quite all-out-awesome, but still manages to hit a mark, especially because of all the crazy people they meet. Really makes me wish I can move forward my travel plans. Don't miss the bloopers at the end. See more 12/25/2012 Cheesy yet inspiring independent film. Look past the basic shooting methods and more into the actual story and you will find two guys telling a travel story that is extremely accurate to the travel lifestyle. See more 06/03/2011 I like indie movies, and I like to travel, but ironically this is a travel movie that goes absolutely nowhere. The plot is a meager excuse to weave some semi-entertaining travel yarns together and lacks a conflict, purpose or goal. The generous reviewers giving this one four or five stars must have never seen the Travel Channel, National Geographic, or vacationed outside the Winconsen Dells. Better travel movies to watch instead are The Beach, Around the World in 80 Days, Summer Lovers and National Lampoon's Vacation. See more 04/19/2011 Noticeably low-budget, yet that's where it gets its appeal. Makes you want to travel, or at the very least, make a movie. See more Read all reviews
