Delightfully dark, Late Night with the Devil proves possession horror isn't played out -- and serves as an outstanding showcase for David Dastmalchian.

      Audience Consensus

Late Night with the Devil does a great job of recapturing the late-night TV of the '70s, and horror fans will appreciate the way it doesn't rely on jump scares -- although they might not be satisfied with the ending.

Atlcomicsfan Enjoyed this movie and the format it was filmed in. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review Leonard Nimoy's Daddy Fetish There weren't enough (none, actually) bare breasts, blood, and implied paedophila to really sell a late 1970s talk show occult horror setting. It has a community theater vibe to it, but one where no one's having any fun. It wasn't scary, it's wasn't funny, it wasn't thoughtful, and it wasn't even bad enough to be a ridiculous Creature Feature sort of thing. The seventies were terrible, sure, but they were also fun. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review Edgar Innovative in its classic approach.. You are no longer in a movie theater you are part of an experiment on a talk show. Just amazing! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/18/24 Full Review Patrick A slow, suspenseful and effective build. Loved it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/18/24 Full Review Justin Atleast five good jump scares Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/16/24 Full Review Matthew M very original. slow burn, but legitimately unnerving towards the end. Bilge Ebiri New York Magazine/Vulture The cast makes Late Night With the Devil more than watchable, but they also raise our hopes for something better. Apr 20, 2024 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald The Cairnes cite Sidney Lumet’s Network as an influence and I’m not surprised. They have come up with a worthy successor. Rated: 4/5 Apr 11, 2024 Full Review Wenlei Ma The Nightly (AU) Its smart use of mostly practical effects work and its disciplined approach makes for a sometimes tense, often funny and always impressive horror film that even scaredy cats will appreciate. Rated: 3/5 Apr 10, 2024 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …smart in concept and deft in execution, Late Night with the Devil is a well-cast and performed film, with Dastmalchian absolutely embodying the strengths and weaknesses of the ingratiating host whose insinuating agenda ultimately proves his demise… Rated: 5/5 Apr 26, 2024 Full Review Mattie Lucas From the Front Row The way it so indelibly ratchets up the suspense and the stakes is thrilling, and the film's slow burn build-up feels like an urban legend being born before our eyes.
