      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

LBJ loses sight of its complicated subject, ignoring the more intriguing aspects of his personality and career in favor of a frustratingly ordinary biopic treatment.

Georgan G 3 & 1/4 stars. Having been in high school during the era this film took place, I see the film from that perspective. Despite being so loved (until I read about his affairs), JFK brought great ideals, whereas LBJ made them happen. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/14/24 Full Review Dena B Love Rob Reiner infinity. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/22/23 Full Review Rachel P So many great actors! I NEVER not completely finished a movie however this was painful to watch. I stopped at an hour. Slow and dull! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/03/23 Full Review Sean M Totally mediocre film about LBJ. Pacing was horrid. The last half hour was dreadful. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/06/23 Full Review kevin c Woody Harrelson and Jennifer Jason Leigh don some heavy prosthetics to play Lyndon B Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson respectively. Starting from his decision to run for Vice President under JFK and his work for civil rights to the assassination of JFK and his sudden stint as president. Harrelson is very good in the role once you get used to the prosthetics. Leigh was unrecognizable in the role. Very good performances from the entire cast. Interesting flick. Directed by Rob Reiner. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I enjoyed this movie and thought Woodie Harrelson did an incredible job at portraying LBJ as we look at the man and his presidential leadership before and after the Kennedy assassination. Stephen Romei The Australian While the shooting of JFK is the dark shadow of this movie, what unfolds on screen is less about the 35th president than the man who replaced him. Rated: 3/5 Jun 1, 2018 Full Review Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald [Woody] Harrelson gives an impressionistic performance. He doesn't look much like LBJ, even after the make-up, nor can he bring his voice to the same low register, but he understands the coyote cunning of the man. Rated: 3/5 Jun 1, 2018 Full Review Rex Reed Observer Woody Harrelson in the title role has enough spice to keep the viewer alert and attentive. Rated: 3/4 Nov 6, 2017 Full Review Gianmarco Farfán Cinencuentro LBJ is a valuable approach to one of the lesser known presidential periods in the US in which the legal and political focus was given to a transcendental issue such as the Civil Rights Act...
