Derek Smith Slant Magazine Across Cartouche and Le Magnifique, Philippe de Broca truly manages to have his cake and eat it too. Jun 13, 2021 Full Review Frank J. Avella Edge Media Network About 20 minutes in, the film takes a narrative turn - one I did not see coming, but even if you do, just adds layers to the work and then doesn't let up. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member In the beginning I thought "This is an awful over the top action comedy" - and then came the twist. This is a pure work of art, just wonderful and very french. Great, timeless movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Fiction is spliced with reality for hack spy novelist Francois Merlin, when his neighbor, beautiful college student Christine selects Merlin as the subject of her term paper in this campy 1970s action-comedy. In Christine's presence, Merlin's reality shifts between his boring life and the thrilling world of his heroic spy character. Surreal camp......... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member i think my brain juice was drained in the last 93 minutes of this silly movie... i need a real movie after this! :p Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member French movie released in 1973, starring the stunning Jacqueline Bisset and Jean-Paul Belmondo.
