Audience Member Somebody really really likes Christopher Guest. This Canadian mockumentary is very clearly modelled on films like "Waiting for Guffman" and "Best in Show", focusing on a group of teens competing in a dance competition. Where Guest shoots hours and hours of footage and culls it down to the best that he has, this film clearly shot just enough footage to get a film out of it. While it's not surprisingly inferior to Guest's work, it's actually pretty good. It starts off weakly, but really starts to hit it's stride and manages to pull off a 50/50 hit/miss ratio. That's pretty good for a low budget comedy with no recognizable stars. My one big complaint is that it has a tendency to ride single jokes for as long as possible, frequently right into the ground.
