Jason Bailey Flavorwire The effects are hilarious, the sets are rinky-dink, and the character names are funnier than a full season of 'Big Bang Theory,' and the "narrative arc" of our heroine is laughably predictable. May 30, 2016 Full Review Alonso Duralde Linoleum Knife The first movie made from this material was all about the Anti-Christ taking over the UN. This one's about landing a plane. Oct 20, 2014 Full Review Monica Castillo Paste Magazine The movie unravels in its own destruction. Every effort to milk the tragedy of the apocalypse is met with terrible music, acting and effects that soak (and drown) the pathos in camp fare. Rated: 2.5/10 Oct 9, 2014 Full Review Daniel Barnes Dare Daniel Cage has little to do but somehow manages to do less with it. Rated: 1/5 Aug 23, 2023 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …Left Behind seems entirely preoccupied with the mechanics of landing a jet aircraft on a motorway rather than any advanced theological questions... Rated: 1/5 May 15, 2022 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse Cage is a practitioner of the Nouveau Shamanic school of acting but here he has dialled it down perhaps out of respect to the religious nature of the material, or perhaps he's saving the wild stuff for Con Air 2: This Time it's Biblical. Audience Member Why is Nicolas Cage in so many bad movies like this one? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/25 Full Review LIAM C Movie Review: Left Behind (2014) Left Behind attempts to adapt the popular Christian novel series into a high-stakes apocalyptic thriller, but ultimately fails to deliver on both its faith-based and action-packed promises. Starring Nicolas Cage as pilot Rayford Steele, the film follows the chaotic aftermath of the Rapture, where millions of people mysteriously vanish, leaving the world in turmoil. Despite an intriguing premise, Left Behind struggles with uneven pacing, clunky dialogue, and an over-reliance on melodrama rather than genuine suspense. Cage’s performance feels restrained compared to his usual intensity, and while the supporting cast, including Chad Michael Murray and Cassi Thomson, try to bring emotional depth, the script leaves them with little to work with. Visually, the film lacks the scale and tension expected from an end-of-the-world scenario, relying heavily on repetitive cockpit scenes and uninspired CGI. While the story’s religious themes are front and center, they feel more like an afterthought in favor of generic disaster movie tropes. Ultimately, Left Behind misses the mark, appealing primarily to fans of the source material but leaving general audiences underwhelmed with its lackluster execution and unintentional camp. Rating: 2/5 Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/25 Full Review Ari V Not a bad lil thought experiment actually. Especially if you get past the first 20m or so. Definitely underrated. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/14/25 Full Review jase h ummmmm... this movie sucks but in a way that is confusing. the movie is based around the rapture, but uh you would never know unless you know the bible because the actors never say it, they simply reference it. the movie Kinda just ends with the city on fire and mr cage landing on a road and then they say "this isn't the end its only starting." Honestly, there aint much cooking here. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/11/24 Full Review Whiskey56 V I liked this movie. It was a good time on a Saturday afternoon with my wife and daughter. I think it's very solidly 3 to 3 1/2 stars, but i'm ranking it 5 stars to counteract the 0% rating by all the Godless hollywood demon worshipping critics who are obviously deeply triggered by it's very existence. Seriously folks, this movie is not bad at all. Hellywood: Now *that* is bad. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/22/24 Full Review B U One of my fav Nicolas Cage movies.
