Sultry actress Angela Beale (Gina Gershon) is accused of killing her brother-in-law. When it is revealed that she may have been sleeping with the victim, her case is thrown into jeopardy. However, scheming celebrity lawyer Norman Keane (James Garner) soon steps in to defend her. Assigning the charismatic young legal team of Roy Guyton (Ed Kerr) and Rica Martin (Mary-Louise Parker) to Beale's case, Keane attempts to shift the trial to the actress's favor.
