A solid family sequel that has strong viewpoints of family togetherness, but paces longer than expected, and filler as far as expedition to final goals of the plot. The action is the strongest parts of the movie with strong acting, but a floundering, and flustered screenplay. Parts of the movie age well over time 20 years later. the musical score is ok, when compared to westerns of that time. See more Hannah D Aug 11 The mask of Zorro is my all-time favorite movie. I know the whole entire movie by the back of my hand and this sequel is 1000/10. The movie is so adventurous and the comedy in it is great. I love what they did with it to continue the story. I do wish that they would come out with the third Movie with Antonio Banderas teaching his son how to be Zorro. I don’t know what all these other lowballing reviews are, but they are so wrong and far from the truth. Also The critics are buffoons because they have no idea what they’re talking about. As a fan of The Mask of Zorro, I was expecting the same level of thrill and intrigue. Unfortunately, The Legend of Zorro felt like a watered-down version of its predecessor. I do not know if it was because the studio was aiming for a PG rating or something more family-friendly, but the result was too cartoonish and cheap. The dialogue was overacted, performances were overdramatic and most of the scenes could have been picked out of a daily soap opera. The addition of the child was unnecessary, annoying, and distracted from the other characters. Ultimately, there was nothing special about The Legend of Zorro, which is disappointing because of the greatness of the first film.
