T'Cha Dunlevy Montreal Gazette Nature is awe-inspiring, but it is also harsh in Les loups. Things aren't always pretty, yet somehow, in this place, they feel more real. Rated: 3.5/5 Feb 27, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

dave s Elie (Evelyne Brochu), a young woman from Montreal, arrives at a small island off the coast of Quebec in the midst of the seal hunting season. Despite the fact that she is unwilling to divulge the nature of her visit, she is accepted into the tightly-knit community but, over time, the islanders begin to believe that she is affiliated with those who annually protest the hunt. It is a pensive, thought-provoking film in regards to both the reason for Elie's visit and the ethics of the actual seal hunt (warning for the squeamish: there is graphic, bloody footage of the hunt). The Wolves is a stark reminder of what it is that we need to survive, whether it is the need for community and family or the resources that our environment has to offer. While it is sometimes difficult to keep track of the characters' relationship to one another, that's a minor quibble for an otherwise interesting film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Je suis peut-être un peu sévère. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
