This is absolutely one of my favorite movies.I don't know why anyone wouldn't like it.It's funny, it's about gambling.And it's got richard's Dreyfus and jennifer tilly in it. What more could you ask for?

4 of 5 Stars, only because I don't believe there is such a thing as a perfect movie... HOWEVER... this film is definitely up there. A far fetch scenario but "You Never Know" and isn't that what the movies are for, to escape reality and make some dreams come true for viewing pleasure. Dreyfuss is outstanding, Coltrane is lovable, Garr is marvelous and Tilly is vivacious. A gambler's dream come true of a perfect WIN day at the races. This movie maybe your longshot of choice but will at the least PLACE if you let it.

Probably not critically acclaimed but if you can't laugh at this I don't know what to say. Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid to all of us) has a great cameo. Teri Garr at her dysfunctional drunk best. Dreyfuss is gold.

I am astonished that this fabulous romantic story, in the old traditional sense of 'tilting at windmills' is so poorly thought of on this review aggregator. Garr & Dreyfus . . . The tragic thing is that there are so few movies with this pairing. These two are brilliant together. No slighting of the supporting actors many of whom are stellar in their later -- and former roles -- and are, with some hyperbole, utterly convincing in this one. Maybe it is that in the era if the interweb, viewers lean towards grim endings and narrow escapes.
