There is an impending sense of dread for all the main characters. You are rooting for them, but... every possible outcome is tragic. (ENGLISH) This is not your typical vampire movie full of blood and cheap scares. Tomas Alfredson digs into something much harder: loneliness, bullying, and everyday violence. He does it with a strange calm, mixing beauty with unease from the very first minute. The story follows Oskar, a boy constantly bullied at school, and Eli, the neighbor hiding a dark secret. What starts as an odd friendship turns into something darker, but it works because it feels honest and never forced. The Swedish landscape isn’t just background; it’s part of the atmosphere. The frozen silence puts you right inside the characters’ heads, and when violence erupts, it hits harder. Alfredson knows when to show and when to hold back, and that’s where the film really shines. The young actors, Kåre Hedebrant and Lina Leandersson, are outstanding. It’s not easy to bring such complex characters to life, but they manage it without exaggeration. Leandersson, especially, makes Eli tender and terrifying at the same time. This is a film that lingers. It scares, yes, but it also moves you and makes you think. More than a vampire story, it’s about childhood and the need to be seen for who you truly are. In the end, it leaves you cold on the outside but shaken deep inside. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/23/25 Full Review Andrea C Technically speaking, the movie is very well made, with interesting shots and good camera work, but Jesus it is a boring one. A horror movie which is never scary and briefly has any tension mixed with a cringey lovestory between a seemingly psychopatic kid and a vampire. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/23/25 Full Review Kalissa H. Slow but interesting Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/23/25 Full Review Jack F I saw the English remake first, but I thought this one was good too. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/21/25 Full Review Jed M A Hauntingly Beautiful Masterpiece Let the Right One In is not just a vampire film—it's a chilling, tender, and deeply human story that lingers long after the credits roll. Set against the stark, snow-blanketed backdrop of suburban Sweden, the film weaves a coming-of-age tale that’s equal parts eerie and poignant. Kåre Hedebrant delivers a quietly powerful performance as Oskar, a lonely, bullied boy whose life changes when he meets Eli, played with mesmerizing subtlety by Lina Leandersson. Their bond is delicate and strange, filled with unspoken understanding and a shared sense of isolation. The film never rushes their connection—it lets it breathe, unfold, and ultimately transform both characters in haunting ways. Director Tomas Alfredson masterfully balances horror with emotional depth. The violence, when it comes, is shocking but never gratuitous. Instead, it serves the story’s deeper themes: the cost of survival, the ache of loneliness, and the strange, sometimes dark, ways we find connection. Visually, the film is stunning. The cold, muted palette mirrors the emotional landscape of its characters, and the cinematography is filled with quiet, unforgettable moments—like the pool scene, which is as terrifying as it is poetic. This is a film that reinvents the vampire genre by grounding it in real emotion. It’s unsettling, yes—but also tender, tragic, and oddly hopeful. Let the Right One In doesn’t just scare you. It moves you. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/30/25 Full Review Zahra R. Loved it. Well made movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/29/25 Full Review Read all reviews
