This is a film that can have you smiling one second and choking back the tears the next. This is a film that is joyful and distressing and mundane and extraordinary. Go to Full Review

It's a feel-good movie in that sense, affirmative without being sentimental or exploitative. Go to Full Review

Inevitably, the 90-minute film has a lot to live up to. And, by and large, it succeeds in its mandate. Go to Full Review

If it tells us anything, it’s that visual culture is still very confused, indeed, about its own future. And, for now, we’re stuck in the voyeuristic moment. Go to Full Review

With this kind of feel-good quality the film is sure to encounter warm reception, but the stated goal has definitely been missed. Go to Full Review

All too well summed up by its closing bit, where a young woman bemoans how she hoped for an eventful day but ended up with another rather mundane one. Go to Full Review

dave s 05/24/2021 Life in a Day is a remarkable achievement, a compilation of videos submitted from around the world that celebrates a single day, July 24, 2010. It is an amazing tapestry of life, a journey that is tragic, funny, touching, violent, inspirational, humbling, heartbreaking, and visually stunning. Granted, there are some segments that seem either unnecessary or too long (the elevator ride, the boy shaving for the first time), but the film is, generally, beautifully edited with more than its fair share of impactful and memorable moments. See more andres s 01/11/2021 If anything, this movie highlights how us as a nation, the U.S., are probably the most troubled and out of tune with our culture and ourselves. I like how this movie highlights how everyone does the exact same thing all around the world. Doesn't matter where you're from, or your race, or your upbringing, we all do the same things. Like wake up in the morning brush our teeth, bathe. The only difference is that here in America, we're so spoiled that we don't realize it and take things for granted more easily than other parts of the world that have it way harder. Lmao! The husband fainted while they were performing the c section on his wife. Seeing the circumstances of how some of these less fortunate souls have to live in this world really makes you think about your own life. I like the way they contrast the different ways people live throughout different parts of the world. I really wish they didn't put in the cow scene. Like the cow getting shot in the head and then butchered. I felt like that was unnecessary to put in this kind of movie and it felt like some vegetarian or vegan pushed for that scene to be in the movie. Really fucking disturbing stuff that I didn't want to see. But then the part with the older couple getting their wedding vows renewed was so sweet and funny to watch. Very human movie that made me really appreciate what I have. I'm glad that I don't take things for granted and that I can give thanks for what I have. Very unsettling and disturbing at times but also pretty interesting. My favorite was the Korean guy who's bicycling around the world, the Russian's who are out in the mountains with the goats and the English couple getting remarried. Very interesting to see all the incredible things that can happen in one day. Kind of a weird ending. Even though I enjoyed parts of it, I'm not watching it again. As a documentarian, I wish I had come up with the idea! See more 07/18/2016 Deserves five stars for the sheer ingenuity!!! What an amazing idea!!
