Howard P If you like movies of this era, regardless of how good they are, then you might enjoy this. But if you've seen a lot of early talkies, and don't want to waste your time with films that just aren't that good, then skip this one. Its claim to fame is that it's the first all-talking picture, rather than being part-silent part-talkie. That's why I watched it, and I enjoyed it for that historical value, but I can't recommend it beyond that. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/20/24 Full Review Steve D The acting is fine but there isn't much interesting in the story. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/18/23 Full Review David K Of historical interest as the first full talking picture. Suffers from all the usual issues in the new format...stilted and stage-bound. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/06/23 Full Review Audience Member This was the alpha at the original talkie pictures but the plot was crude and the direction wooden. The cast and production were ordinary and if you discard the fact that it was a talkie, it is second rate. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews
