A tale of a young girl's close encounter with the galaxy's most wanted extraterrestrial. Lilo is a lonely Hawaiian girl who adopts a small ugly "dog," whom she names Stitch. Stitch would be the perfect pet if he weren't in reality a genetic experiment who has escaped from an alien planet and crash-landed on Earth. Through her love, faith and unwavering belief in ohana, the Hawaiian concept of family, Lilo helps unlock Stitch's heart and gives him the ability to care for someone else.

Nell Minow Common Sense Media Cute story, great characters, fabulous soundtrack. Rated: 4/5 Dec 25, 2010 Full Review Ted Shen Chicago Reader Smart, poignant, and utterly beguiling. Nov 16, 2009 Full Review Richard Corliss TIME Magazine It's a bright, engaging bauble with half a dozen Elvis Presley songs for Mom and Dad, and just enough sass -- Stitch sticks his tongue into his nose and eats his snot -- to keep the tweeners giggling. Sep 2, 2008 Full Review Jana Monji Age of the Geek Neither my Hawaii-born husband nor I were fans of this film. We both weren't charmed by the animation templates for the people and I sensed a whiff of Gauguin in the air. Rated: 2/5 Jun 3, 2025 Full Review Sarah Vincent Sarah G Vincent Views I was really impressed with the idea of linking the child with the ill-tempered alien to deliver the message of nature versus nurture regarding pathological behavior that could lead to stigma and getting pathologized in bureaucratic systems. May 23, 2025 Full Review Allison Rose FlickDirect The heart of Lilo & Stitch is Ohana—a touching reminder that family isn't always about blood, but about love, loyalty, and those who choose to stay. Charles C Lilo and stitch was well made funny and lots of loving family scenes. If you love Hawaii and are a Lilo and Stitch fan you will love this movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/24/25 Full Review Aidan W. I remember liking this movie as a child, but upon rewatching it; it is a stunningly poignant exploration of family dynamics that is elevated by the sci fi elements. This movie is a pinnacle example of why animation works in its own right separate from live action because in a film filled with dazzling alien creatures and action scenes, the most memorable parts remain the intimate moments involving those characters in our world. Every character and moment is crafted with expert precision, not a second is wasted and by the end you’ll feel like you’re just as much a part of lilo and stitch’s ohana. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/02/25 Full Review Kyle M A worthily true Disney classic by its resonating heft and animated caress that stuck to the grounded core tested by the untraditional rambunctious nature, with the elegant addition of presenting the cultural likes through the music. (A) Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/30/25 Full Review Amanda S This above average family movie is definitely worth a watch with the Children for a family movie night. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/29/25 Full Review Michael P I haven't seen this movie in nearly 20 years but I love it so much. The story is a lot darker and deeper than I remember but it's fantastic. I look at my now 2 year old son and realize I am raising a Stitch which, whilst challenging, is amazing. I love the theme about family and sticking together and family isn't just about those we're related to but also those who we choose to be our family. Nobody gets left behind or forgotten Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/27/25 Full Review Raquel E The animation holds up beautifully, the emotional depth hits harder than expected, and the found-family theme is everything.
