Christopher A C Jun 17 Brendan Fletcher delivers a chilling, unnervingly believable performance that feels more documentary than fiction. The film doesn’t romanticize its subject or offer easy redemption. It’s bleak, gritty, and confrontational, depicting a child shaped by neglect, poverty, and systemic failure. While its low-budget TV origins show through, the storytelling and performances make it unforgettable. Not a feel-good movie — but a powerful, sobering one. It really highlights the holes in the juvenile detention system as well as mental health institutions in not only Canada but in many places around the world. More people should see this. As of the date of this review, it is available for free on YT. See more 12/08/2009 Awesome movie that portrays an aspect of childhood many of us may not be familiar with or may not even be able to understand for that matter. I think this movie is an eye-opener because yes, fucked shit like this does happen in the world around us. See more 11/18/2009 Ok so how on earth can this film be practically unheard of???? See more 02/26/2009 fucked up. but still a really good movie See more 02/25/2009 An absurdly moving film which fuses witness-style camera work and cutaways of recorded therapy sessions, against an impoverished backdrop. The melancholic and angsty soundtrack aids a circling storm which culminates in an ending which was never going to be happy, but still manages to pull all the intended emotions out of you. Unfortunately an extremely rare sighting, particularly outside its native Canada, it has never had a commercial release which means many will sadly miss out on this stunningly compiled independent - dare i say it - masterpiece. See more 01/09/2009 I was thinking about this movie today. It was my absolute favourite when I was 11. I had to watch it when my dad wasn't around. The VHS eventually got completely worn out. This movie is so incredibly sad and poignant. I don't use that word lightly. It's probably one of the best TV movies ever made. See more Read all reviews
