Karen Han CutPrintFilm The film is quiet but vibrant, and Ira Sachs does a lovely job coaxing images to life out of stillness, and tenderness out of situations that might seem barren of it. Rated: 9/10 Dec 8, 2017 Full Review Christopher Orr The Atlantic As a referendum on gentrification in Brooklyn, the movie can occasionally be a bit tedious. But the entire cast is strong, especially Michael Barbieri. Mar 16, 2017 Full Review Lindsey Bahr Associated Press Its smallness makes it grand and moving. These are the things, these little moments, decisions and consequences that most human lives are made of, after all. Dec 30, 2016 Full Review Aaron Boalick Vague Visages At its best, Little Men swings the viewer from the small, important signs of young friendship to the uncomfortable and conflicting economic interests of adults. Dec 1, 2023 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand This is not a Disney movie with a teary resolution and all sins forgiven. Sachs is more interested in the nuances of relationships [and] the power of childhood friendship... Apr 8, 2023 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com The film's revelatory performances are turned in by Theo Taplitz and Michael Barbieri. isla s I enjoyed this film for its depiction of early adolescence friendship naturally created, outside of the context of an otherwise uncomfortable family situation. I liked the light, upbeat 'tinkly' music played in the background of scenes showing the 2 boys hanging out together. There's a fair element of escapism present, as well as a sense of nostalgia. I enjoyed it and I think its a good film that I'd recommend generally. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member interesting story for a movie where families fued and thier children suffer. The child actors did a good job. The ending left much to be desired. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/10/20 Full Review Audience Member I guess I don’t understand the hype with little man I found the film to be quite boring and bland. The performances are good with decent dialogue about how people are treated. But the movie doesn’t really go anywhere and it’s drawn out despite its short running time. I really wasn’t all that invested in the characters or the script. It’s a well-made little indie film but there’s just nothing here to really hold interest very long. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/25/20 Full Review ari v Cute little movie, but drawn out and overrated. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Too slow and nothing ever happens Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/31/19 Full Review Audience Member It's like a Woody Allen movie mixed with Ken Loach film minus everything that makes them interesting. The movie definitely has interesting subject material but very little is done with it, there's very little dialogue and interactions between the characters in this movie. There's a lot of great acting but I wish they were all in a better movie. I don't recommend this, there's much better films that deal with similar themes.
