Audience Member Alex van Warmerdam is a weird dude. His films are something different. Direct, artsy, smart and with several bizzare moments. In this film we meet Brand (acted out by Alex himself). He is 45, but he can't read. His wife, Keet, hire a teracher for him so she doesn't have to read out the subtitles for him when they are watching movies. The teacher and Brand get's a connection. She is hotter than his wife and when Keet acts like Brands sister to let Lena, the teacher, fall for Brand the confusion is complete. He does have his wife's full support after all. Like an open love triangle with conflicts, desire, passion and lust all over. Fights, love, dinner - it's all there. Labled as a drama, but this is funny stuff - darkish comedy indeed. I dig the characters and the vivid story is enjoyable. Still, there is not much shockvalue or nice turns here, so it ends up a bit flat for me. Not Alex's most bizzarre, weird, artsy or fun flick. Neither is it his best. 6 out of 10 bell-ringers. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Sorta funny- in a rather hard-boiled way.
