06/23/2021 An interesting exploration of what happens when strippers try to unionize... ...and we all know how that turns out! The Lusty Lady officially went under in 2010, and I'm not sure how it even lasted that long considering the movement to make it a real workplace for women. See more luis g 05/11/2013 An interesting look into the discrimination, politics, and labor issues that were faced in a San Fran club. Humanizing and empowering. A unique analysis of this specific feminist cause. See more 01/22/2013 Oh, the documentary... Not my favorite genre. But I was surprised by the interesting and engaging story this film ended up telling. While I am most annoyed by the animation cut aways for hitting the hammer too hard on the head, the breakout scene in the film is when the narrator reveals to her mother that she's a stripper. That is drama you cannot write. Fantastic. I have to admit, this film was pretty inspiring. See more 05/28/2010 This is a great documentary! It was shocking to learn the types of conditions that these women had to work with. At the same time it was also both poignant and amusing. I really recommend it, this film has so many layers. See more 05/15/2010 Oh me oh my. An interesting doc about strippers/dancers forming their own union to protect their employment and improve working conditions. It was wild to see what you can accomplish when you close your legs (Duh!). I feel pretty shallow but I don't see how these girls made any money. They had darker mustaches then their clients.
