In the year 2274, young residents enjoy an idyllic, hedonistic lifestyle within the protective confines of a domed city. The general belief is that when each person turns 30, they are reincarnated for another blissful life cycle. Those who know the much darker truth become "runners" and flee to a hidden sanctuary. When law enforcement officer Logan (Michael York) goes undercover to locate the refuge, he winds up instead trying to initiate a revolution with runner Jessica (Jenny Agutter).

This had potential but there are a lot of things that are incongruous to good story telling. For example who runs this world and why is it run in this way? Potentially to manage resources but some hint of that would be useful. It doesnt need to be a paint by numbers but at least something to explain how this society came to be and why it was so fragile in the end because after all this running and subterfuge, all of sudden towards the end of the film, the whole system collapses because of a few punches here and a few shots there and then pft! It’s gone. Also the acting is really bad - it’s so stilted as though they were reciting Shakespeare. It cant be because of the age of the film - this was shot 20 years after Brando bought a more naturalistic form of acting. Yet in Logan’s run, i almost expected the actors to shake hands at the end of the scene it was so bizarre. So really it’s a camp film but not in a good way.

The bad acting, direction, and toned down script are quite detrimental. Though it's still-impressive visuals, effects, and the noticeable remains of it's inner moral story make it a worth-while watch (even if just once) for true sci-fi fans.
