Mike J Sonic I think it's so weird to be a big hero lord lord evil Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/29/22 Full Review Serge L Rather amusing this story of a son who confuses his mother's lover with terrible blows. Benign but which degenerate. A case of divorce(s). It reminded me of comedies from the 70s. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/21 Full Review Audience Member Disappointing. I normally like Julie Delpy movies... her comedies are funny and different. This one felt kinda hollywood cliche - women making raunchy jokes and a stale plot where a family member tries to sabotage a romance (in this case the son pulls some awful tricks to get rid of Delpy's boyfriend). Delpy's character is also stale. Obviously being neurotic is her schtick, but it's like she didn't even bother to create a character here. I did laugh at a few points, and I guess that's something for a comedy nowadays. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Good French comedy, Enjoyed the entire movie, nothing silly about it as so often happens in French comedies! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Didn't go where I thought it would. It's pretty raw and all the characters other than Jean-Rene are pretty contemptible, but it was like a train wreck and I couldn't look away... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review john s A Julie Delpy project, which means "Lolo" is clever, wordy, sexy, and very, very French. The funny is a bit of a surprise. Rich with evocative dialoque, this complicated mother-boyfriend-son triangle veers from comedic to astute, to confusing, to combative. It has life. It has spirit. It has great performances. It has Paris. And yet, it never quite comes together. Perhaps there's just too much going on; a cluttered film assembled with good intentions. Delpy's middle age, single fashionista in search of romantic adventures would have been enough, but the plot is muddled with a silly IT story, and a rather disturbing Oedipus bent. "Lolo" does have its charms, especially the slapstickler Dany Boon, but requires more than a passing knowledge of the Euro jetset to properly enjoy the razor sharp skewers. Works swell in parts, but not in the sum of. - hipCRANK Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Peter Howell Toronto Star Lolo happily takes the rom-com road less travelled, the one marked "Danger." Rated: 3/4 Jun 2, 2016 Full Review Bill Goodykoontz Arizona Republic I appreciated the effort Delpy, directing her sixth feature, puts forth in trying to spice up the genre. But that doesn't mean I enjoyed it. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 31, 2016 Full Review Ella Taylor NPR Lolo is fun and fresh to look at: Violette's habitat is fashion-world, Centre-Pompidou new Paris, blessedly free of the Louvre-and-Seine shorthand that sells French movies to American audiences. Mar 24, 2016 Full Review Chus Pérez Girón Espinof Despite the irregularities and setbacks of the script, the pace of the film is good and the casting does not do its job badly. [Full Review in Spanish] Aug 21, 2019 Full Review Stephen Saito Moveable Fest Considering how her characters will often carry an impervious facade while privately fretting, "Lolo" may be the most ideal vehicle for her specific voice to date. Nov 13, 2018 Full Review Katrina Olson katrinaolson.ca Julie Delpy is such a spectacular actress, especially in this role. It reminded me a little of her character in2 days in Paris, but more mature and twice as funny. Rated: 8/10 Oct 30, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews
