Audience Member It has been awhile since my last entry in Exploits from the $1 Bin. I wish I would be returning to this with a welcoming entry, but sadly I won’t. The only reason I bought Lone Shaolin Avenger was a very odd picture on the back of the DVD. It showed a man holding another man in the air by his crotch. If that isn’t a reason to buy a DVD, then I don’t know what is! The movie is about Chia Ling (Casanova Wong, not lying… that is his listed name), who is seeking revenge on a corrupt government who killed his parents, and stole his fiancée. This happens to him when he is very young, and like all movies like this, he trains under a kung fu master. And then eventually confronts they guys responsible… yak yak yak. Kung fu movies have never been know for having great Foley Artists. And this movie is probably the best example at how cheesy these sound effects can get. There is a man who is swinging a chain, which ends up sounding like someone pulling strips of tape off a giant role. Staffs have some sort of springy noise to them. And swords kind of sound like some sort of chirping bug. Usually the fighting in these movies can make up for the lack of a good story. But the fighting is just not good. Punches and kicks never seem to make contact with anyone. The sets just seem to break with the slightest graze. And no matter how much of a beating the hero takes, a simple glance at one of the villains and he is back on his feet again. This is a terrible movie. But I like the case. I know it sounds childish that I would admire a DVD simply because it features a man lifted in the air by his manhood, but trust me when I say that is the only good that will come from this movie. Certainly worth missing. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
