Fran, a pragmatic forty-something, is determined to become a parent on her own terms. She reconnects with Ben, the offbeat classmate she once skipped prom with, to join her for a planned, DIY insemination weekend, hoping to keep the whole thing simple and discreet. The weekend takes unexpected turns as she discovers Ben is autistic and navigating significant mental health challenges. Fran's carefully constructed plan spirals into chaos. With awkward laughs, candid confessions, and an evolving bond at its center, Lone Wolves is a romantic dramedy about friendship and fertility, and the strange, stubborn hope that can surface when life refuses to go according to plan.

Margaret C @Margaret-NYC 20h What a joy to ride along as Fran and Ben totally let go of the plan! So many funny and tender moments, from the hilarious horror-movie shot of the missing paperclip, to the sparkly charm of the drug store prom decorations, to the satisfying payoff in the final moments of that sex cushion thing - this movie was a refreshing evolution of a buddy film in the most big-hearted way. I was happily and deeply invested at every turn. The talent on all fronts was crazy high - story, acting, directing, set, costumes and cinematography all worked together so beautifully. Pure magic. More like this, please! See more Gretchen W @wylderwomyn Aug 11 Lone Wolves is a funny, heartfelt take on friendship, chosen family, and belonging. Two friends from decades prior - now both in their 40s - attempt to make a baby, but not the old-fashioned way. This type of story is incredibly rare and told beautifully through strong performances and fantastic pacing. There's nothing glamorous here and that's the point. It's incredibly relatable, especially for those of us entering mid-life. Give this film a watch, you won't regret it! See more Laura B @Lbartner Apr 26 I did enjoy this movie. There is a lot of thoughtful dialogue between old friends dealing with the subjects of infertility, mental health and autism. Handled very sensitively. Saw it as part of the NYC Reel Abilities Film festival. See more Read all reviews
