Audience Member worth it just to see Ray Bolger in his prime! Introduced me to a now little-known star who died too early during the depression Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Puff piece bio of Marilyn Miller smooths out all her rough edges, including the removal of her infamous prickly personality and imperious attitude, but includes a lot of beautiful music. Lush production values, an amusing performance by Ray Bolger and Gordon MacRae's glorious voice all make this worth catching but it's worthless as a realistic representation of Miller's life. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A bright start to a dull film. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member 60/100. A very average musical, uplifted by good color cinematography, excellent art direction and fine costume design. It's certainly well produced. Very typical of it's day. There are some good tunes, but none of the music stands out. But the score was nominated for an Academy Award. Rosemary DeCamp and Charlie Ruggles are quite good in supporting roles.
