In 1942, an Amsterdam family, including 5-year-old Jonah (Luke Petterson) and his mother (Juliet Aubrey) and father (Jean-Hugues Anglade), are forced into a concentration camp as the Nazi occupation of Holland begins. As his parents suffer from mental and physical debilitations, the boy endeavors to make friends and find a place of safety within the camp. And as World War II rages on, Jonah does his best to maintain the optimism instilled in him by his mother during earlier, brighter times.

Audience Member It's not the production values that make it better than average. I couldn't help but give it great marks due to the fact it made me stop and think hard about life. It made me appreciative of my lucky existence. More importantly it made me cognizant of how war can bring out the worst and best in human nature.
