      Critics Consensus

Touching and profound, Looking: The Movie puts a bittersweet conclusion to the too-soon-gone HBO series with humor and hopeful tenderness, even if its structure is slightly wobbly.

William This move is a great ending to the show, and it was made by absolute icons and incredible writers and directors, and obviously the greatest cast imaginable Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/16/24 Full Review Ryan S Incredible Series/Movie that was cut way too short. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/24 Full Review Miguel Angel L Love it. Good bye guys. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/15/23 Full Review J B Look, I love this series to death. It should never have been axed. I just feel that the movie tried to cover an entire seasons worth of content and it is a cram fest. I don't blame the production crew, they would have been trying to do their best under trying circumstances. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/10/23 Full Review Shock Therapy R I don't know anything about a tv series, so my entry was simply this movie. The writing was a really hip version of a teenage/high school drama filled with indecision, speed dating (and break-ups), and ultimately a grand display of dis ingenuity. I suppose the protagonist can report back to the cab driver that is IS in fact good to be back to the drama. What the protagonist brings from Denver is insecurity, doubt, and longing that can only be cured with the first guy to say "yes" (out of three, four?). Maybe our main guy should have starting texting before departing Denver to find his next potential mate, like a storm finds its next victims. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/24/23 Full Review robert p I was not aware that this movie followed a TV series, all I know is I enjoyed it very much, I was glad he finally found his match!!!! Brandon Nowalk AV Club Looking has always come alive in visuals, and The Movie is a beautiful parting shot. Rated: B Jul 25, 2016 Full Review Mike Hale New York Times In a show about loneliness and friendship, it helps to have two actors who can so easily convince us that they're the greatest of friends. Jul 24, 2016 Full Review Nancy DeWolf Smith Wall Street Journal The movie makes anybody who watches it at least glimpse the deeper, disconcerting, questions. Jul 22, 2016 Full Review Joe Passmore Attitude Its subtle observation and commentary on the gay community, whilst at times flawed, was always intriguing, and often heart-warming. Rated: 4/5 Feb 6, 2020 Full Review Alexander Ryll Gay Essential If you liked Looking the TV series, you'll be largely satisfied by the wrap-up movie - which was previewed at Outfest 2016 ahead of its HBO premiere. If you didn't like Looking the TV series, the wrap-up movie won't change your mind about the series.
