      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

As thought-provoking as it is thrilling, Looper delivers an uncommonly smart, bravely original blend of futuristic sci-fi and good old-fashioned action.

Caleb A The plot wasn't as rock solid as it could have been, and the movie took a tonal shift towards the middle of the film, but Looper is an intriguing, entertaining film that is definitely worth a rewatch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review Yuval D a very smart sci-fi movie. great action Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/05/24 Full Review Conrad C A fairly fresh science fiction movie that still tended to lean on some of the lesser of the genre's standards. Had the material been presented a little cleaner this movie could have been an above par story. Unlike many of its counterparts the violence in this movie does not feel gratuitous, but instead pushes the plot. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/04/24 Full Review Michael M A smart sci-fi action movie that does what all great sci-fi does, take a concept, in this case, time travel assasins and builds a compelling , engaging, and ultimately satisfying story arc. We'll acted with standout performances by the mainstream, especially Emily Blunt who seems to thrive in sci-fi movies! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/24 Full Review Theo S One of the best written and executed time travel films that feels easy to follow along with yet creative and interesting. A movie of this quality and originality is hard to find with so many time bad time travel movies. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/24 Full Review Me D Looper can be quite boring and later it can put you into a loop where you think of how good it could've and should've been. Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online A breath of fresh air as we creep into the heavy fall dramas and awards glitz, Looper will likely not be forgotten as the film that showed up and got the job done. Rated: B+ Sep 7, 2017 Full Review David Thomson The New Republic I found myself dreaming of the days when Willis would take a rest from Die Hard-ing to do character cameos of unexpected depth and pathos: Pulp Fiction, Nobody's Fool, and a few others. Now he clings to stoic longevity, and shoots people. Jun 14, 2013 Full Review Tom Charity CNN.com Yes, it's a B movie sci-fi thriller, but not many prestige pictures have this much going on underneath the surface. Oct 5, 2022 Full Review Danielle Solzman Solzy at the Movies Looper never focuses too much on sci-fi because the film keeps our attention on the old-school action-thriller taking place on the screen.
