Rafael (Daniel Martin), a strapping young Spanish gypsy, falls for the beautiful Juana (Sara Lezana), a young woman from a rival family. Juana uses her impressive flamenco dancing skills to gain the favor of Rafael's adoring mother, Angustias (Carmen Amaya). The lovers plot to elope, but, unfortunately for them, Juana's disapproving father has promised her hand in marriage to Curro (Jose Manuel Martin), a man with no qualms about forcing them apart, even if it means bloodshed.
