Audience Member While the film starts off on a decent premise. (Director going to foreign Borat/Soviet esc nation to make movie) It quickly falls apart after the first act. It transitions rather rapidly from a relatively okay comedy to a dark and rather convoluted mess. Plot points end up being unresolved, the filming scene drags on while the psychological effects on characters and their changes are not delved into. The main female love interest is never really explored and just feels like she is there whenever the script needs her, despite her character having by far the most interesting backstory in the movie. This all adds to an ending which feels lazy, unresolved and ultimately and movie which doesn't add up. It's not really worth watching due to the script being so weak. But if the film does have any plus points the performances from MacFadyen and Buring are decent, That however does not fix the flat and lacklustre writing. Rather critical but settling on 1.5 stars. Can't go higher. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member rather bland film about a down on his luck film maker given the opportunity to make a epic film about karastan Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member There's a bit of 'Borat' about this, but with a straight man in the lead role and the craziness all around him. The humour and satire are quite good. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Kevin Maher Times (UK) A missed opportunity. Rated: 2/5 Jan 22, 2016 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Broad comedy this may be, but it's well made and founded on a funky kind of social-realist plausibility, and the locations (in Tbilisi, Georgia) are rather amazing. Rated: 3/5 Jan 21, 2016 Full Review Tom Huddleston Time Out A good-natured but laugh-deficient British comedy. Rated: 2/5 Jan 19, 2016 Full Review Alexa Dalby Dog and Wolf It's an unusual British film that has ambitions beyond the prevailing London-gangs mode, and it's well worth a look. Rated: 3/5 May 31, 2019 Full Review Matthew Anderson CineVue Despite apparently noble intentions, and what must constitute a healthy dose of personal experience from the film-within-a-film scenario chosen by the director... Lost in Karastan is a frustratingly fruitless endeavor. Rated: 2/5 Apr 8, 2019 Full Review Naila Scargill Trebuchet Pitching itself as a satirical black comedy, Lost in Karastan ultimately falls flat. Feb 28, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
