Jimmy C I’m 51 years old. This thing came out when I was I don’t even know how old. I think I passed right over it raising kids, and not even giving a crap. I’m sitting here playing XBOX PGA watching this movie going oh my God it’s pretty good. I’ll tell you what it’s got some good actors. Last time I saw a movie like this, I dumped a bunch of popcorn over my head and lit myself on fire. So you know, it’s a good old-fashioned woo hoo. It’s a dump. It’s a fire dump. It’s good. I’d never seen the TV series, so the movie didn’t annoy or offend me because of everything it changed. However, time has not been kind to this film adaptation. It starts off fine, but then it really lags in the middle and goes pretty far out there in the end. They were also swinging for the fences when it came to computer graphics, but they should have just stayed in the practical effects lane. There will always be a small piece of my heart that likes this version of Lost in Space, but I can’t say it’s a great movie. The Netflix series is the better remake. No. But it's a fun, action-packed, family-friendly sci-fi movie. Pros: + Has a great message about the importance of family and sticking together + The robot is a lot of fun + The child actors did a pretty good job + Action scenes are tense and hold up well + Plot generally makes sense and is easy-to-follow, with minimal plot holes + 90's Heather Graham Cons: - William Hurt's acting is quite wooden - Planned sequels sadly never happened, so the movie's ending is a little unsatisfying - Gary Oldman's character is a little too much of a mustache-twirly villain. He refers to himself as "evil" repeatedly in the movie. A little more depth to his character would have been nice.
