Less a triumphant return than a gradual slinking back, an unspoken assumption that no one really cares that much about his behavior... That disconnect, the lack of shared reality, accounts for some but not all of the special’s halting, uneven quality. Go to Full Review

Either way, know that nothing in this hour expands beyond territory he hasn’t covered -- including, and namely, any epiphanies about responsibility. Those are not coming. Go to Full Review
Vikram Murthi The Atlantic Jul 14, 2026
Ridiculous remains uninvolving compared with C.K.’s pre-2017 specials, which fits a pattern: His post-allegation jokes just aren’t as memorable as his most acclaimed routines. Go to Full Review

In his latest stand-up special, Louis C.K. reinvents the classic persona of the impertinent jester, with results that range from brilliance to scatological excess. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

While nothing goes as hard or as funnily insightful as previous specials, this made laugh the entire time, which is the point of a stand-up comedy special. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Steven F @RT69856319 1 day ago I'm stunned at the only 55% approval from fans while only 45% from critic which means nothing to me. Years later they always look like fools. They overwhelmingly hated Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Queen, Doors(well they got one right at least) and more but now they look like fools. Hence, their reviews of Ridiculous which I found to be the funniest of all and I saw him live in Long Beach, CA just months before this was filmed and was also shocked since I was bored out of my mine. He was as clean, non shocking, and bland as Bob Newhart who was funny in what he did. So I'm not bias here because he was so bad that I removed his FB channel from my lineup. I watched this to see how bad or if he still stunk and couldn't finish my dinner because the laughing was so hard I was choking. This was GREAT! See more Jon B @RT87178112 Aug 25, 2026 Louis CK is probably my favourite comedian of all time. Unfortunately, this special is his weakest. Normally, he’s a master of storytelling. This time around he just tried too hard to go for laughs. In prior specials, he let the stories build and kept you in suspense and had very clever punchlines. In this special, he rushes the joke and it’s the same tired "haha my father molested me" shtick he’s been doing for years. His last special was only a few years ago and it was great. This special seems like he was trying out brand new material for the first time. Super disappointing as a big fan. See more Itsa P @RT16910998 Aug 14, 2026 Decent watch, and it pisses off stuck up critics so that's a bonus. Kinda funny people think this is his return when he's been doing comedy the entire time, just not on Netflix. See more Harri H @PictureNerd Aug 7, 2026 I hesitated first to watch this after him being away from the spotlight for so long. I still wanted to give it a shot and boy was it worth it! I have now watched this 3 times and it is pure magic. For me it is the best special of him and the best special in years on netflix. He just suprises you every time with the punchline after another. It seemed that the audience was in awe of how good the jokes were. He seemed so relaxed and confident as always. People how do stand up should take notes how to deliver a joke. Vintage Louis. Still got it. See more David G @dgilmour Aug 2, 2026 I have historically loved Louis C.K.'s comedy but this special just had a strange vibe all the way through it. This special felt more like an attempt for new material vs his normally clever and polished sets. And it might sound strange but there are parts that remind me of Andy Kaufman where I get the impression he is more interested in antagonizing the audience instead of trying to make them laugh 🤯 See more Lucien D @DESAR Jul 16, 2026 I always enjoyed Louis C.K. his jokes are usually very funny. This show was absolutely miserably bad. It was the worst comedy set on Netflix I've ever seen. I don't want to sound mean (I know how hard it is to build a set for a special). However, the jokes seemed force and didn't flow naturally. I am not sure if he just out of practice or he was doing shows with mega fans and then he used that material for the show. Who knows, who cares - this was not a good show See more Read all reviews
