Chris Chang Film Comment Magazine Who knew empowerment could be so winning and so simultaneously grotesque? Nov 17, 2013 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Some definite laughs. Rated: 3/5 Mar 31, 2011 Full Review Julian White Little White Lies Definitely more enjoyable when you break it down into bits and pieces in your head afterwards. Rated: 3/5 Mar 31, 2011 Full Review Graham Young Birmingham Mail Even by English-language black comedy standards, it's a decidedly odd mixture of fun and revenge. Rated: 3/5 May 27, 2011 Full Review John Ferguson Radio Times Although directors Gustave Kervern and Benot Delpine strive a little too hard at times for outrage, it's still wickedly funny, and Moreau and Lanners are terrific as the grotesque anti-heroes. Rated: 3/5 Mar 31, 2011 Full Review Tom Dawson Total Film The laughs are defiantly non-PC, but there's no doubting the sympathetic handling of the working-class heroes, nor the righteous rage at the injustices of contemporary capitalism. Audience Member Absurd, grotesque, hilarious and dry. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member I can't say it was fun but I enjoyed this. It was hilarious, in a low key sort of way, Some unexpectedly beautiful moments amongst the visual drek. I suspect I would have "gotten" more of the references if I had known more about the original Louise Michel. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member cinegeek.de Our Daily Free Stream: Louise Hires A Contract Killer. Brilliant. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member If the French made a live action Family Guy episode about an out of work textile worker and an inept hitman then this would be it. Some very funny moments along with some decided misses. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member The directors of this dark comedy seem to have insisted on having quirky focal points in almost every scene. Admittedly these are highly original and it is quite a feat that they sustain it, except that it totally obliterates any sense of the overall serious message I think they were hoping to make. Something about capitalism and the plight of the worker? All very relevant and all lost, sadly. I think the French are in a rut churning out these kinds of oddball things, the same way the Brits can't leave alone the cockney gangster.
