Roxana Hadadi AV Club Though clearly an adoring tribute, Love, Antosha allows its subject a sort of complicated humanity that expands our understanding of him. Rated: B+ Sep 19, 2019 Full Review Randy Cordova Arizona Republic It serves as both a celebration of Yelchin's life and a tribute to his parents, particularly his mother. That infuses the film with a warmth and compassion that keeps it from feeling like a funeral-service memorial. Rated: 4.5/5 Sep 4, 2019 Full Review Pat Padua Washington Post Mostly, the Antosha of "Love, Antosha" seems like a good kid: someone whose life -- and tragic death -- should inspire us to spend our brief time here as wisely and as well as he did. Kyle M Watch one work from an actor’s career separate from others, you’d usually praise the performance from just that film and referring to others just to sum up the talented caliber. Then compile all that into one picture, there’s a great connective respect that goes beyond in a powerfully touching tribute to form an emotionally honest, directorially uncompromising, portrait of such dimensionally reverberated, charismatically infectious kindness. Remembering Anton Yelchin mainly through “Star Trek” association to discover his ranging growth with further appreciation before it’s been unveiled by this dedicative documentary to cement his young legacy that he was just getting started, only to sadly get cut short. Initially shocking news till the documentary rejuvenate the devastation after noting his full talented intent, finishing it off sympathetically with a grieving sense of comfort. (A) Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/05/25 Full Review Clint P Incredibly moving, beautiful, and sad. I don’t remember the last time I cried watching a film. A fantastic & well produced documentary. You truly did leave a lasting mark & legacy Antosha. Also, I think because I’m so close with my mom, I can relate 100% to their relationship. Rest in Peace Antosha. 💐 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/03/24 Full Review Munkhchimeg T It really shows that life is quite simple than we think. We don’t need the highlights. Life is what it is. Good point Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/27/24 Full Review Joshua A This film is incredible. I woke up to a Quora email, like most mornings and someone had answered some questions about his death and referred to this documentary. Wow! I had always loved him in his films, but now I understand why I was so attracted to him. His spirit was fierce and he really was living life to the fullest in ways most never event taste. Incredible. I wish all children had such loving parents. Having that safety, allowed him to reach for the stars. He never seemed to hold himself back and would touch the uncomfortable subjects that most are nervous to dabble in. What an incredible and loving man. Thank you so much for creating this documentary. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review dave d 'Love, Antosha' is an utterly charming documentary on a person lost much too soon, actor, musician, artist and all-around talent, Anton Yelchin. It's a fascinating life story, which includes tons of pictures and video of the prodigy. I wonder if we'll have this footage from cell phone pics in 40 years. Pictures froms the 80s and 90s stayed in drawers, as did VHS tapes, but with the 21st century everything is digital and so quickly to be erased. Anywho, it's really good it will made you smile, but perhaps it will also make you value every day. I did want to know more about Yelchin's dark and dirty side which is brought up and glossed over. It's easy to understand why it's not fleshed out. These docs are a dime a dozen, but few delve into or have this much access to the subject's surroundings. When a filmmaker, in this case, Garret Price (making his first film), goes into so much detail and the story is fascinating it will almost always give the viewer a pleasurable experience. Final Score: 8.8/10 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I am a true fan of Anton Yelchin, as well as documentaries in general. It is absolutely lovely that this was created in his memory. He was an explosive talent, destined for great creativity... And he achieved it, even with his short time on earth. The film is touching, revealing and heart breaking... At the same time, this bio/memorial showcases so much heartfelt family love, a contagious energy, plus incredible medical details that make you question your time here and your purpose. Beautiful.
