This is quite an amusing film until about the half point where it completely loses its way really. Maybe it's just funnier when Madeleine is oblivious to Arnaud's advances but I found myself bored once they left the army camp. Promising debut overall though.

Cracking wee tale of young love and forest fires .... recommended by the Guardian so we gave it a whirl. Gives good insight into modern French mores. Not your average Hollywood blockbuster, and all the better for that.

The movie was very entertaining and the main characters had a lot of chemistry, which made it more fun to watch. However, it is not your conventional love story and because of that it might felt odd or like its going nowhere, but that's because that is secondary in a way. Moreover, the performances were also very good as well as the story. Overall, it was a good movie with some humor and romance, that comes from a very unexpected setting. ~July 25, 2015~
