Although Kennedy Hansen is a funny, loving child, she inexplicably begins to fall ill. It takes years for the diagnosis: Juvenile Batten Disease - an extremely rare, terrible and terminal prognosis. There is no cure for Batten Disease, and after living only 16 years, Kennedy leaves behind a great legacy of love and friendship. But her story doesn't end at her death. That's when the miracles really begin.

A series of episodes from Kennedy's life, though, don't add up to an engrossing movie. There's no dramatic arc or tension between characters, just a slow inevitable slide as Kennedy's condition worsens.

I love the general topic of the film, tragic story about a kid, as I have personal experience related to it. However, I couldn't connect to the characters, and so much of it was cliche. They jump between something like age 6 and then 9 years later, and then multiple years of searching doctor visits, yet she dies at age 16? The characters are very religious, focused on Jesus, and being saved in heaven, etc, but because that view was set up to be this big revelation (like the sick girl believes in Jesus, so everything is okay!), I found it way overdone. The girl says I got sick to spread the word of Jesus. Such beliefs make for zero tension in the movie. There is no character change, no development or arc. Maybe if you are very religious yourself you might like this movie more than I did(n't).
