He hasn't told his family or friends that he's gay, and he doesn't know the identity of the anonymous classmate that he's fallen for online. Critics Consensus

Love, Simon hits its coming-of-age beats more deftly than many entries in this well-traveled genre -- and represents an overdue, if not entirely successful, milestone of inclusion.

Juan Pablo T A beautiful story of the unique stage of discovering your sexual orientation, Simón has a captivating charisma. However, the ending is too rushed and the situations do not conclude in a solid way. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/09/24 Full Review Dane B. M Beautiful. The acting is real and so is the story. And I'm writing this 7 years after they began shooting this movie (movies are always shot 1 year before hitting the theatres). The world is rising right-wing and right into hatred. The rise of the hateful Christian cultists is killing so many LGBTQs. We need this movie to shout out to the haters that we are not going away. We will survive and love will prevail... Love Simon proves the world can accept us and our allies. If they hate us they will not stop with us. So embrace us and we will, together, fight for the love of everyone. A freer, more beautiful world. Dane Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review Alec B The movie has just enough charm to give it a pass for the soap opera plot. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/05/24 Full Review FRANK F Perfect movie. The scenes with the mom and dad brings tears to my eyes every time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/02/24 Full Review Holly B One of my all time comfort movies!! Great adaptation of the book, great cast, and such an important story for people of all ages, though set in high school. Great scenes with family, friends and of course a love story. LOVE THIS MOVIE!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/02/24 Full Review Christopher K It started off good until the comment about SeaWorld. Stopped watching it afterwards. Trash! SeaWorld does more for animals than any other organization in the United States. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Li Sian Goh Bitch Media Love, Simon works because it feels like a love letter to a specific queer internet borne of staying up late, sweaty and paranoid, on the family computer. Mar 5, 2021 Full Review Andrea Gronvall Chicago Reader This beguiling romantic comedy offers a fresh take on the familiar premise of a high-schooler trying to fit in. Mar 5, 2020 Full Review Tara Brady Irish Times The film is a landmark in LGBTQ representation, but succeeds on its own merits. Rated: 4/5 Apr 13, 2018 Full Review Rolando Gallego EscribiendoCine A film that reinforces its nature by diving into classics from the eighties by John Hughes for some references and transferring them to the present with an effective soundtrack and a healing message... Carney Washington Blade Thanks to director Greg Berlanti and his talented team, Simon gets a great love story and gets to share it with us. Dec 8, 2022 Full Review Michael Cuby them. The best thing Love, Simon did for queer media was pave the way for Love, Victor, its superior spinoff series...nevertheless, the latter wouldn’t exist without the former, and for that, I will always hold a soft spot in my heart for Berlanti’s adaptation.
