Christian S I enjoyed this movie so much because I identified with having a car from when I was young to the present. I wrecked and rebuilt it more than twice. It is worth nothing anyone but me. Well done! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Audience Member i am only giving this 5 stars because dr phil is in this Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A commendable directional effort for Eric Bana & although its quite well made its a little too detailed for non car lovers. His passion for his car is fantastic but his technical breakdown isn't as much. Some scenes drag on a little bit but you can't deny the car lovers out there. If you are a car lover (which I am not at all) you will love it & has some great scenes of mate ship etc. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The merits of this documentary can be debated. Those who are not car enthusiasts may find Love the Beast boring. Bana comes across as a down to earth bloke, who, even with an international career, still makes time for the friends that he grew up with. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member If you've ever wondered what drives a car persons passion this movie/documentary explains it very well. Easy watching, brainless kind of film to just veg out too. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Eric Bana is charming, but he maybe shouldn't go too far down the directorial debut, with this documentary film only a worth-while watch through the unscripted event (described below - let's just say the irony is overwhelming). The premise focuses on Bana and his love affair with his first car, a Ford Falcon. Bana goes around showing it off and sharing his excitement with his school friends, and TV celebrities Jeremy Clarkson, Jay Leno and Dr. Phil. The bits with Leno aren't bad, but serve no purpose, Dr Phil is about as entertaining as drying paint and Jeremy Clarkson is mean-spirited and, while his humour sometimes works on BBC's Top Gear, it doesn't here. The only reason this film is memorable is because it depicts Bana's unfortunate crash during a rally in Tasmania. While I wouldn't want to be in his shoes, it is the event that both saves the film, but then lets it drag on for a lot longer than it should while Bana tosses and turns over whether to rebuild it, and Jeremy Clarkson laughs at him. A film purely for revheads. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Empire Magazine An indulgent but moving account of a decades-long love affair with his first car. Rated: 3/5 Nov 13, 2009 Full Review Trevor Johnston Time Out Bana exudes downhome blokeyness throughout, but an hour of this will be enough for most, after which egomania fatigue sets in. Add another star if you're a petrolhead, two if you really like Eric Bana and cars, three if you're his mum. Rated: 2/5 Nov 13, 2009 Full Review Kevin Maher Times (UK) An innocuous if not entirely successful attempt to convince "non-car people" about the joys of loving a 1974 Ford Falcon XB coupe. Rated: 2/5 Nov 13, 2009 Full Review Martin Tsai Critic's Notebook While not everyone shares that same enthusiasm for automobiles, Mr. Bana's film unintentionally reminds us of Detroit's glory days when the big, gas-guzzling American muscle cars were the ultimate symbol of status and personal freedom. Oct 7, 2015 Full Review Allan Hunter Daily Express (UK) Unless you share Bana's worship of screeching tyres and throbbing engines then this is probably something you only really need to see on the small screen. Rated: 3/5 Nov 13, 2009 Full Review Jamie Russell Total Film Slight but unexpectedly sweet. Rated: 3/5 Nov 13, 2009 Full Review Read all reviews
