Wendy Ide Observer (UK) The combination of an overstretched running time, excessive use of querulous folk noodling on the soundtrack and uneven performances undermines its potency. Rated: 2/5 Jun 11, 2023 Full Review Kevin Maher Times (UK) Verging on Naked Gun territory. Rated: 2/5 Jun 9, 2023 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian This is a well-intentioned, earnestly acted film, but the tonal shifts are frankly uncomfortable. Rated: 2/5 Jun 6, 2023 Full Review Kat Halstead Common Sense Media The film moves into almost thriller territory late in the day and struggles to reconcile its plot contrivances and dramatic shifts. Managing to highlight an enormously relevant issue but not quite hitting the mark on the way the story is told. Jul 22, 2024 Full Review Kevin Harley Radio Times When third-act twists steer the film into near-horror movie territory, Gull's good intentions are swept aside, compromised by a deluge of dramatic contrivances. Rated: 2/5 Jul 6, 2023 Full Review Dulcie Pearce The Sun (UK) ... A well-intentioned melodrama that lacks concrete foundations. Rated: 2/5 Jun 9, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Mark B A well executed film which draws you straight into the characters of Sophie and Paul from the start without any side show nonsense or silly sub plots. The simplistic story telling is it's refreshing strength in an age where far too many films try being too clever, or rely on CGI instead of raw talented writing and directing. The film has a proper beginning, middle and an end in the old fashioned sense of good British movies from the late 1950's and early 60s. Shana Swash carries the film with an excellent performance as the lead Sophie as does Niall McNamee as Paul. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/11/23 Full Review Daniya S A very powerful movie with a great cast and fantastic music. Very hard to watch but definitely worth it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/07/23 Full Review Jess C This is such an important film given the times we are living in. I felt utterly taken in by these characters and journeyed along with them as they spiraled into despair. Despite their circumstances, they're good humour and love shines through. The pair are so very unlucky but I imagine so are very many others who find themselves at the sharp end of bad luck and mistakes made. An excellent film - well worth a watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/07/23 Full Review Katie D Two lovely performances from the main cast. A story of love prevailing when times are tough. A lovely independent gem. Go see it.
