Synopsis
In this documentary, German director and opera enthusiast Werner Schroeter explores how singers develop their emotions. He travels to an ancient Parisian abbey with three world-class opera singers -- Rita Gorr, Martha Mödl and Anita Cerquitti -- and asks them each to sing an aria of his choice. Through their candid interviews and intimate performances, the singers explore the foundation of their creativity and discuss the emotional background to their art.
