Audience Member Romantic and funny, portrays the difficulties of a refugee life without bitterness. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member A delightful movie about loss and rediscovery of relationships. Its setting in post-war Serbia adds more flavour to the movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Charming but melancholy romantic comedy about refugees who find love in post-war Serbia. It manages to be both sweet and have a satirical edge. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member (DVD) (First Viewing, 1st Karanovic seen) I only had modest expectations for this little Serbian rom-com, and it proved to be exactly what I thought it would be: cute, fun, and painless. The film is dedicated to French director René Clair (LE MILLION, A NOUS A LIBERTIE), and it's a fitting tribute, as LOVING GLANCES displays the same quirky, madcap take on romance and comedy that mark Clair's early films. Apart from the central romance there's actually some interesting things going on with the invisible characters both protagonists see as far as dissecting social and familial pressures on romance and identity go, and it's certainly an interesting as a look at the lifestyle of political refugees in this area. Not bad, not great, (to use a weak pun) it's worth a passing glance. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Read all reviews
