Sheri Linden Los Angeles Times Glossing over such inconvenient facts as out-of-wedlock fatherhood, this unabashed encomium skimps on complexity and insight in the name of veneration. Rated: 2/5 Jan 26, 2012 Full Review Peter Rainer Christian Science Monitor Lula, Son of Brazil is proof that even charismatic political figures, in this case, Brazil's former president, Luiz Incio Lula da Silva, can be felled by the requirements of the standard biopic genre. Rated: C- Jan 13, 2012 Full Review V.A. Musetto New York Post With its $5 million budget, "Lula'' is said to be Brazil's most expensive movie yet. It's a shame the money wasn't better spent. Rated: 1/4 Jan 13, 2012 Full Review Jack Fleischer Battleship Pretension Responsible world citizens should probably know the story of Lula, but when it comes down to it, it doesn't feel like Lula ever truly gives us insight into Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Mar 22, 2021 Full Review David Bax Battleship Pretension Essentially, what Barreto engages in here is mythmaking. Mar 16, 2021 Full Review Mattie Lucas From the Front Row For a film that clearly loves its subject so much, it's lack of fire is both curious and unfortunate. Eric F Lula is the most hated and loved politician in brazillian history. Half of the country sees him as some kind of messiah and half sees him as the devil. This may seem exaggerated if you're not from Brazil, but is the only thing I think both sides can agree. This movie was made while Lula was still president and it obviously portrays him as greatest human being to ever walk on planet Earth. This is the movie biggest problem: they didn't write him as REAL PERSON, but as someone who is never wrong or never had any flaws. It was made so over the top to show him as a good guy that it can't be taken seriously. If you wanna watch this movie to learn how his supporters see him, this is your movie. If you wanna learn about his story, then look for something else... Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/14/24 Full Review Flat B One of the worst films ever made in Brazil. Show of lies and corruption.
