Jordan Mintzer The Hollywood Reporter It's an altogether engrossing crash course in the birth of movies, and if Fremaux makes anything clear in his survey, it's that the Lumieres were not only cinema pioneers - they were perhaps the first auteurs. Jan 26, 2017 Full Review Alberto Bermejo El Mundo (Spain) This documentary serves the beauty, the surprise, the purity and the wisdom of the then newborn cinematographic art on a platter. Valerii Ege D It's an amazing documentary, but I have to cite that every short with animal suffering bothered me very much. People's cruelty is incontestable. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member This film captures 98 of the earliest films ever produced by the Lumiere brothers, digitally restored and enhanced. The Lumieres are founders of the cinematic device and these short films are from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The film is a must see for any cinematic history buff or film student. It is quite fascinating to view such a historical recordings of the earliest moving images of mankind. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews
