marco b The film starts with a woman leaving her children and going to see her lover, and as revenge her daughter drowns her 5-year-old brother. The upsetting news causes the woman and her lover to crash their car, decapitating him. Years later she is released from an institution where she moves into her ex-lovers' apartment, performing bizarre rituals. Pretty gross stuff here. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Completely boring and overlong one note necrophilia movie. Has a quick opening but just meanders for 50 or so minutes doing absolutely nothing. Not worth the watch or the notoriety it has received. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/04/19 Full Review Audience Member An atmospheric masterpiece, full of creepy feelings that keeps you interested till the end..! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member There actually isn't a great deal of the Macabre in this film. For the most part is sort of plods along in a barely coherent manner. The claims of authenticity fail to ring true, in the end it feels like Bava may have been out of his depth a bit with this one. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A great debut from Lamberto Bava. Well shot and acted. Full of suspense with a fantastic ending. Not for the squeamish. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member I got this movie in a Blue Underground Triple feature along with Shock and A Blade in the Dark. While I found the story interesting, I predicted the climax far to early on in the film and felt that the storyline with her sociopath daughter really was pointless to the plot. I actually did like the blind guy but I felt that panning over a women obviously way older than him and not very nice left me sore. I think the film showed a what a promising film maker could do.
