David Tennant (Doctor Who, Broadchurch) and Cush Jumbo (The Good Wife, Criminal Record) lead a stellar cast in an 'enthralling' (★★★★★ Daily Telegraph) new production of Shakespeare's MACBETH, filmed live at the Donmar Warehouse in London, especially for the big screen. Unsettling intimacy and brutal action combine at breakneck speed as Max Webster (Life of Pi, Henry V) directs this tragic tale of love, murder, and nature's power of renewal. With staging 'full of wolfish imagination and alarming surprise' (★★★★★ The Guardian), the immersive 5.1 cinema surround sound places the audience inside the minds of the Macbeths, asking are we ever really responsible for our actions?

Get thee to this version of Macbeth if you’re a Shakespeare stan or even just a Tennant or Jumbo appreciator. They carve their own spaces with these classic characters and...inform the play in ways that the best productions have done throughout the ages. Go to Full Review

This version of the bard's Scottish play accents the melody of Scotland and David Tennant has the right swagger for a kilt. The modern, humorous touches do not detract from power of the performances. Go to Full Review

Much of its power comes from the simplicity of its visual presentation, which centers the actors above all. It’s a production tailor-made for a film release, and the end result is one of the best takes on the Scottish play in recent memory. Go to Full Review

Alexandra Oct 2 I enjoyed it so much. Throughout the movie, I couldn’t look away. See more Lisa K Jul 7 David Tennant was BRILLIANT, as always and it didn't hurt that he was in a kilt the whole time! See more Debi Mar 3 Previously saw the same play with Ralph Fiennes. This was a superior production in it's own right. Loved that it was actually Scottish, although the language was hard to understand at times. It's my favorite Shakespeare play and I was really impressed at the staging of this particular production. Besides, I am a HUGE David Tennant fan and he was very good in this show--subtle yet menacing without over emoting. Cush Jumbo was fantastic as Lady M. Could sense the love between the both of them ruined by their political aspirations and lust for power. See more Carley Feb 28 What is there not to like? Never thought I would be able to see this and it was better then I could ever imagine. See more Alison P Feb 19 I live in the southwest USA and drove almost 200 miles round trip to see one of the best performances in my life. David Tennant, Cush Jumbo, and company were all excellent. David Tennant is always electrifying on stage and created an unforgettable Macbeth. Cush Jumbo was an outstanding Lady Macbeth. I couldn't ask for anything more. See more Ali Feb 17 5 stars. Though I did dislike that they zoomed into the glass box at the back, which was so much more effective as a looming presence in its whole. Still fantastic. The Harold Pinter production was even greater See more Read all reviews
